About Dana
I had heard so many wonderful things about Dana from Bob and Sheri before I actually met her in person (of course, I did get to hear her voice via Bob’s speaker phone on several occasions). The first time I met Dana was at our Halloween Party on November 2, 2002. Bob and Dana arrived in full costume garb! Dana, a beautiful “Royal Flush” and Bob, a “Pirate”. From the minute I first met Dana, I felt like I had met a dear friend. I think she really enjoyed herself that evening and later, we were able to give Bob a videotape from the party which included Dana. I know having the video to look at from time to time has meant a lot to Bob. My Mom especially enjoyed the time she spent getting to know Dana that evening. She talked about how sweet Dana was and always asked me how she was doing.
I look back now on the few times I had an opportunity to spend with Dana and cherish our conversations and laughs. I remember giving her and Bob a bag of “green” M&Ms I bought for them when we were in Las Vegas and how thrilled Dana was over such a simple gift. I can still picture her smile and her asking me if I knew about “green” M&Ms! Even though she was not feeling well while in Vegas, Dana went to dinner with several of us one evening and also got a laugh out of watching Bob and our group play Blackjack and slot machines. As I recall, she brought luck to Bob at the blackjack table!
One evening in March, Don, Cory, and I went to Bob and Dana’s to play pool and have pizza. While Don and Bob enjoyed a friendly game of pool, Dana and I had a wonderful time chatting about books, family (my Dad), Nationwide people we knew, and Bob. I told Don later, I was so glad I had a chance to spend that time alone with her. Dana was a beautiful, fun loving, strong, remarkable woman. Bob, she loved you so very much! Being around both of you, it was evident how much you meant to each other and how in love you were with each other.
I feel so fortunate to have met someone as special as Dana and although I only got to know her for a brief time, I will remember her forever.
